“My passion for avant-garde design and my desire to explore clothing as an art form led me to create the experimental upcycling project ExNihilo. The name is of Latin origin and means "Out of nothing." I chose this name for my project as I’m a self-taught designer and I make the majority of my pieces from offcuts and pre-loved garments that I've accumulated over the years—items that are typically thrown away or seen as nothing useful. 

I like to make things out of secondhand clothing because it helps me think in a resourceful and innovative way, using what I already have to materialise new ideas. I've always loved experimenting with fabric's sensuous qualities and textures on the body. ExNihilo is a liberated environment, a space for freedom and experimentation with fabrics.’
